Library

The  library of IDS, has a rich collection of books, current and back volumes of journals, research monographs, reference documents, and other material (e.g. electronic disks) relating to different facets of development. It is frequented by researchers and scholars from both India and abroad. The library has 26, 013 volumes as of now, of which 1,092 have been added during the current year. The library continues to subscribe to 139 journals including 42 of foreign origin.

The library is a depository library of publications from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and International Labour Organisation, and has so far received more than 3,041 publications under this scheme. The library will soon provide electronic access to a scholarly journals archive called JSTORE. The Arts and Sciences (I & II) Collection of the JSTORE includes 239 academic and research journals in Humanities, Social Sciences, and Physical and Natural Sciences. There are around nine million pages of scholarly literature preserved and accessible online (http://www.jstore.org) in this archive.

Computer Centre
The Institute has a Local Area Network (LAN) with two dedicated servers on Novel NetWare and WIN NT platforms. Accessibility to Internet has been extended to 50 nodes, with all faculty members having personal email addresses.  Library books, journals, articles and research reports can be accessed from each Node.

Almost all members of the staff and faculty are computer literate. The Computer Centre of the Institute also provides on-the-job training to research staff that joins short and medium term research projects of the Institute.

Campus and Building
The Institute is located at 8-B, Jhalana Institutional Area, situated at the lower ridges of the Arravali in a serene atmosphere. It has easy access to the campus of the University of Rajasthan, HCM-RIPA and several national and state level institutions located in Jaipur. The campus has a three-story building with one and half floors occupied by the library, a large conference room and several committee rooms and class-rooms.
